Kesha Reacts to Kim Petras' Record Label Dispute, Likening Her Own Experience

Kesha is speaking out in response to Kim Petras recently coming forward about the delay on her new album.

The 38-year-old singer has had her own music release issues and having to leave a label, after being in a battle with producer Dr Luke.

On Tuesday (January 20), Kim took to social media to reveal that her third album has been done for months, along with a music video, but her label has been holding it back.

Kesha then responded to one of Kim‘s tweets about the situation, and likened her own experience with the same producer.

“I spent many years fighting for the rights to myself,” Kesha shared. “Watching another woman realize that the ‘golden cage’ is still a cage isn’t a victory—it’s a tragedy we have to stop repeating. Freedom isn’t a privilege; it’s a birthright. I hear you, I’m sorry Kim.”

If you didn’t know, Kim‘s label is also one of Dr Luke‘s labels – Amigo Records, in collaboration with Republic Records.

Last fall, Kim spoke about after being accused of selling out.
