Trump Says Iran Is No Longer the Middle East’s Bully at Davos

At Davos, Donald Trump declared Iran is no longer the Middle East’s “bully,” linking US strikes on its nuclear facilities to regional stability.

US President Donald Trump spoke at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where he defended a US military strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, saying it prevented Tehran from gaining nuclear weapons.

Trump’s comments come amid ongoing debate over Iran’s role in regional geopolitics, particularly tensions with Israel and other Middle Eastern states, as well as its contested nuclear ambitions.

Trump told the Davos audience that US action against Iran’s nuclear sites stopped Tehran from obtaining a bomb within months, claiming the strikes transformed regional dynamics.

He argued that, before the strikes, there was no “peace in the Middle East,” but implied the military operation created conditions for subsequent diplomatic progress.

Trump stated that the US intervention helped pave the way for agreements and reconstruction efforts, pressing Hamas to disarm as part of a broader peace deal.

He repeated that because of the US strikes, “they may try again, but they’re gonna have to try from a different area,” referring to Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump’s remarks at the forum also covered topics beyond Iran, including negotiations over Greenland and global alliances, drawing mixed reactions from international partners.

Trump’s Davos statements reflect his administration’s broader foreign policy narrative, in which decisive military action and US leadership are framed as central to managing global security challenges and reshaping longstanding geopolitical threats.
