Olivia Colman & Alexander Skarsgard Tease Uncoventional Romance at Sundance Premiere of 'Wicker'

Romantic fantasy film Wicker premiered at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival and the whole cast was there to support writing and directing duo Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson!

Olivia Colman, Alexander Skarsgard, Elizabeth Debicki, and Peter Dinklage were present at the premiere held at Eccles Center Theater on Saturday (January 24) in Park City, Utah.

Wicker is based on Ursula Wills‘ short story and it revolves around Olivia‘s character, an outcast woman in a fishing village who forges herself a husband made out of wicker (basically a strawman), played by Alexander.

Speaking about the film, Olivia told Deadline that the script is one of her “top three favorite scripts” she’s ever read.

Of the fisherwoman, she says, “I just wanted to play her, and that’s all there is to it. I thought this would be a beautiful film. I wanted to be in it, and that was it.”

The True Blood alum also discussed his decision in taking the male lead.

“I was incredibly excited about playing this character, but he has a purity that scared me. I often gravitate towards conflicted characters, characters where there’s a darkness, or an internal struggle, or some kind of weird dichotomy of friction,” he shared.

Alexander was at Sundance for his film The Moment with Charli XCX, too, and Peter is also starring in another Sundance movie, The Shitheads.

This year, the festival held a star-studded fundraising event tribute for Sundance founder Robert Redford who passed away in September.

FYI: Elizabeth was wearing a look by Bottega Veneta with NeverNot jewelry and ESSĒN boots. Olivia wore COS pants. Alexander wore a custom COS look.
