Taipei 101 is the 11th tallest building in the world, standing tall at 1,667 feet, with 101 floors.

The tower, located in Taiwan’s capital city, is home to offices, restaurants, shops and even indoor/outdoor observatories.

In 2004, the tower was officially classified as the tallest building in the world, but was dethroned by the Burj Khalifa in Dubai in 2009. Now, there are nine other buildings that tower above, including Shanghai Tower, The Clock Towers, One World Trade Center and Lotte World Tower.

Construction on the tower began with a groundbreaking in January 1999, with full construction starting in six months later in July. It was then completed in November 2003 for the adjoining mall, and December 2004 for the full tower.
