1 injured, 1 arrested following shooting on I-580 in Livermore

A 41-year-old Oakland man was arrested Saturday night following a shooting that allegedly occurred in a vehicle traveling on Interstate 580 in Livermore, officials said.

At approximately 5:35 p.m. on Jan. 24, California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of the shooting on eastbound Interstate 580, west of Fallon Road in Livermore. The vehicle exited the freeway after the shooting and stopped on a nearby street where one of the car’s occupants called 9-1-1, CHP said in a news release.

The victim was transported to a hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower body that was not considered life-threatening.

The suspect allegedly threw the firearm out of the vehicle following the shooting, prompting CHP to close all lanes of eastbound Interstate 580 temporarily for them to recover the weapon and check for other evidence.

The 41-year-old man was booked into Santa Rita Jail on charges of felony child endangerment and various weapons violations.
