Durban Direct welcomes Qatar Airway’s decision to increase flights to the city
Air travel and cargo development initiative Durban Direct has highlighted the recent decision by global major airline group Qatar Airways to increase the number of its flights between its home base, Doha, and Durban. With effect from March 1, the carrier will be operating seven flights a week on its Durban route (which includes a stop in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique). Durban Direct serves to develop routes at the city’s King Shaka International Airport, which serves the whole of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) province. The initiative takes the form of a committee, and it notes that Qatar’s decision showed the airline’s confidence in the Durban and wider KZN markets.
