Democrats are lining up to demand another shutdown of the U.S. government.

This time it’s over funding for the Department of Homeland Security, which includes the border security agenda of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which President Donald Trump has been using nationwide to track down on illegal alien criminals and remove them from U.S. borders.

The fall’s shutdown, lasting weeks, was an unsuccessfully campaign by Sen. Chuck Schumer and other Democrat leaders to force Congress to raid taxpayer pockets for more than a trillion dollars for their pet projects.

The new shutdown effort includes, among many others, Schumer.

The Washington Examiner confirmed the New York Democrat has promised to oppose funding the DHS under the spending legislation that has been approved by the House and now is pending before the Senate.

“Schumer voiced his opposition to the DHS funding bill after 37-year-old Alex Pretti was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent during an immigration operation on Saturday in Minneapolis. The fatal shooting is the second officer-involved incident in the city this month after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer shot and killed Renee Good on Jan. 7,” the report explained.

Schumer claimed the footage of the confrontations between ICE officers and agitators in Minneapolis is “horrific.”

“The appalling murders of Renee Good and Alex Pretti on the streets of Minneapolis must lead Republicans to join Democrats in overhauling ICE and CBP to protect the public,” he demanded.

“Senate Republicans must work with Democrats to advance the other five funding bills while we work to rewrite the DHS bill. This is [the] best course of action, and the American people are on our side,” he alleged.

Sens. Catherine Cortez Masto, D-Nev., and Jack Reed, D-Rhode Island, already had suggested dropping the bill

There are five other spending bills also awaiting Senate action.

The deadline to fund the government is Jan. 30, and the Senate is out of session on Monday due to the winter storm affecting the Northeast.

A shutdown could loom should agreement still be unavailable by the end of the week.

Among others demanding their way – or the highway – was Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet:

And others:

The GOP appeared ready to move forward on the current package, which was approved in the House.

And forecasts for a shutdown were surging:
