“And so, I want to share what I’m learning from them in case any of you out there are also experiencing repercussions from a TBI concussion,” Evangeline said.
Her “brain rehab” regimen includes taking the amino acid compound, creatine; antioxidant N-acetyl cysteine or NAC; the antioxidant resveratrol, which is found in grape kins; the anti-inflammatory compound turmeric plant curcumin; and omega-3s.
“This is obviously a lot of supplements. I take them on an as-needed basis. So, I will be on these supplements for a period of time that I feel is appropriate for the brain to get what it needs from them, and then I will go off of them,” the Lost alum explained.
She also provided some extra context in her Instagram caption, saying she’s been “getting evaluated” and “targeted, expert advice” on healing her brain.
“This advice was for me specifically and may not be the exact right path for everyone. I am not a doctor nor an authority on any of this,” she wrote. “But in the absence of affordable medical care in this country, I am sharing some of the advice give to me.”
Evangeline also noted that for all of her supplements, she is only taking one capsule a day. She said she tries to eat well and can get a lot of these supplements from her diet.
She continued, “But in a pinch, when the body is needing extra help and extra support. I do believe that supplements can be really, really useful.”
