Minneapolis politician attacked with syringe after calling for ICE out

Last night, a man sprayed an unknown substance on US Representative Ilhan Omar before being tackled to the ground in Minneapolis.

The audience cheered as the man, who was wearing a black jacket, was pinned down and his arms were tied behind his back.

In a video of the incident, someone in the crowd can be heard saying: ‘Oh my God, he sprayed something on her.’

The man, since identified as 55-year-old Anthony J. Kazmierczak, sprayed the Representative with liquid from a syringe.

‘Here is the reality that people like this ugly man don’t understand: We are Minnesota strong,’ Omar said afterwards.

Kazmierczak has been charged with third-degree assault and is being held without bail. His social media revealed him to be a big fan of Donald Trump.

Just before the incident, Omar had called for the abolishment of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and for Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to resign.

And shortly before the event in Minneapolis, Trump told a rally of supporters that Omar comes from a country that’s a ‘disaster’.

He said: ‘They’re good at one thing – Pirates. But they don’t do that anymore. You know why? Because they get the same treatment from us as the drug dealers get.

Trump has previously attacked Omar, saying: ‘We gotta get her the hell out. She married her brother in order to get in, right … she married her brother to get in, therefore she’s here illegally,’ he claimed.

Omar was born in Somalia before fleeing the Civil War, spending time in a refugee camp and being granted asylum in the United States in 1995.

She was given lawful permanent resident status as a refugee and became a citizen five years later, when she was 17 years old.

Omar is not married to her brother, though this is a popular conspiracy among right-wing supporters.

Somalia has been at the forefront of political discussion in the United States, after Trump claimed immigrants from the African country were ‘ruining’ the state of Minnesota.

He said it was ‘barely a country’ and referred to Somali immigrants as ‘garbage’. His issues with the country appear to stem from the Islamic State (IS) groups, which have hidden and attacked villages in the country.

Minnesota has also been in the news because of ongoing tensions with ICE – with two American citizens killed by officers at protests.
