Woman Who Didn't Know She Was Pregnant Goes Into Labor with Second Child on the Toilet at Work: 'Our FedEx Baby'

A woman who had no idea that she was pregnant got a big surprise when she went to the bathroom toward the end of her shift at a FedEx facility in Iowa.

Amethyst Blumberg told KENS 5 and KCCI that she didn’t think anything was wrong as her shift at the facility was coming to a close around 8 a.m. on Monday (January 26).

Little did she know she was about to become a mom of two after going into labor.

Blumberg explained that she was hit by a shock in the bathroom, telling KENS 5 that she “couldn’t even get off the toilet.” When she managed, she said that she could feel her surprise baby crowning.

Calling for help, the Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District responded to the call around 8:29. Only four minutes later, Blumberg had welcomed her second child, a boy named Onyx King Easterlie, who weighed in at 6lbs. 8 oz., KCCI reported.

This marks the mom’s second child. However, she said that this pregnancy was different from the first. Specifically, she said that she previously “had all the symptoms.”

For her second, Blumberg told the outlet that she “had nothing at all.”

In fact she even added that she’d been losing weight at work.

Both she and Onyx, whom she lovingly dubbed “our FedEx baby,” are in good health, according to the reports.

Sharing the story on Facebook, the Johnston-Grimes Metropolitan Fire District wrote, “They’ll tell you they were just doing their jobs on this call. But anyone who saw what they did knows that’s not the whole story. Our crew showed up with skill, calm, and compassion when it mattered most. That’s hero work, and we’re grateful for them and the communities they serve.”
