Sitharaman extends tax sops to cooperative societies

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced tax benefits for cooperatives, extending profit deductions to cattle feed and cotton seed supply. Inter-cooperative dividend income will now be deductible under the new tax regime if further distributed to members. An exemption is also provided for dividend income received by national cooperative federations on investments made up to January 31, 2026.
