Big-Mountain Skiing Icon Cody Townsend Joins Julbo Athlete Team

There has been a lot of athlete signing news lately in the ski world. Visionary freeskier Cole Richardson is now on Salomon, Corbet's Champion Tim McChesney hopped on the Tecnica-Blizzard train, and now man-of-many-talents Cody Townsend has a new eyewear sponsor: Julbo.

As an athlete, Cody Townsend is perhaps best known for two things: doing one of the most f*cked-up things to ever happen on skis, and shifting his career away from said stunts to much more contemplative storytelling as part of his ongoing Fifty and Fifty+ YouTube series. What he's perhaps less known for is his ongoing work with prolific brands on the product development front. He has long worked with current sponsors like Salomon and his former eyewear/helmet sponsor Smith to come out with innovative products like boots, skis, bindings, helmets, eyewear, and more to cater to the ever-evolving world of human-powered freeride skiing.

We expect that to continue with his new eyewear and helmet sponsor Julbo. In fact, Julbo US CEO Marc Bryce says: “Cody represents the kind of athlete we’re excited to work with. He’s thoughtful, dedicated, technically knowledgeable, and incredibly respected within the mountain community. Most importantly, he is genuine and excited to share his passion with the Julbo team. This partnership isn’t about attaching a logo to a name—it’s about working together, building trust, and making gear we’d actually use in the mountains.”

Julbo, founded in 1888, is a French brand based in the foothills of Mont Blanc that produces high-end eyewear and protection for skiers, runners, cyclists and climbers including sunglasses, goggles, and helmets. Townsend will join skiers like Madison Ostergren, Tim McChesney, Sam Anthamatten, Vivian Bruchez, and Kilian Jornet on the Julbo team.
