Predicted Tottenham XI for Man United clash at Old Trafford as Van de Ven starts

Tottenham Hotspur return to action this weekend with another tough away test on the horizon, as Thomas Frank prepares his side for a meeting with an in-form Man United. We have now attempted to predict how the Dane could line up against the Red Devils.

Tottenham Hotspur return to action once again this weekend after securing a hard draw in their last clash against Manchester City.

It was a good point for Frank’s side, considering they were trailing 2-0 at half-time against Pep Guardiola’s team, before a spirited second half saw them earn a point.

Up next, however, is yet another Manchester club, with Spurs travelling to Old Trafford to take on an in-form Manchester United side.

Since Michael Carrick took charge of the Red Devils, United have remained unbeaten, winning their last three games on the bounce against Arsenal, City and Fulham.

Thomas Frank is set to have his work cut out for him, and we have now attempted to predict the Dane’s starting XI ahead of Saturday’s clash.

Predicted Tottenham XI vs Man United at Old Trafford

Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: The Italian made a few top saves to keep Spurs in the game against City in the first half, and we expect that Frank will stick with him once more.

Right-back – Archie Gray: Antoine Semenyo barely had the better of the full-back, who once again finds himself doing a full-back shift because of the injuries ravaging Tottenham’s XI. We expect him to start here in the absence of Pedro Porro.

Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Argentine has found himself in the headlines again after yet another dig at the Spurs board. Frank has revealed that Spurs are handling Romero’s recent comments internally, while also confirming the captain is fit despite being taken off at half-time due to feeling unwell.

Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman is expected to return to the starting XI, according to Frank, following a few missed games in recent weeks.

Left-back – Destiny Udogie: Djed Spence is still out and remains touch and go. That should see Udogie start once more.

Pivot midfielder – Joao Palhinha: Frank has been full of praise for Palhinha, who has proven to be a top professional, filling in wherever required. However, with van de Ven back, he should return to midfield.

Pivot midfielder – Conor Gallagher: The midfielder grabbed his first goal contribution in a Tottenham shirt with an assist for Dominic Solanke’s scorpion kick against City in what was his best performance in a Spurs shirt, and we expect he will continue in midfield.

Attacking midfielder – Pape Matar Sarr: The Senegalese midfielder could earn a start in a more advanced role as Spurs continue to deal with injuries.

Right winger – Wilson Odobert: The winger missed out last time against City with Muani getting the nod, but we expect him to return to action against United.

Striker – Dominic Solanke: Fresh from a brace, we expect Solanke to lead the line for Spurs against the Red Devils.

Left winger – Xavi Simons: The Dutchman should start from the left, but we expect him to be given licence to drift into central spaces to help dictate play.
