DJ Khaled Suits Up with Stars In New Super Bowl Ad

Each year, companies go big for the Super Bowl, debuting ad campaigns that grab the attention of viewers before and after the big game.

Novo Nordisk teased an ad on social media, but without spilling the beans. It’s about the Wegovy pill, a GLP-1 for weight loss, in a light-hearted way. Starring Saturday Night Live cast member Kenan Thompson, along with record producer DJ Khaled, and actors Danielle Brooks, Ana Gasteyer, John C. Reilly, and Danny Trejo, the spot invites viewers to challenge the way we think about weight management and change the dialogue.

Thompson tees off the commercial.

“Big news, America. Wegovy now comes in a pill.”

“If there was a pill that made other things possible, you’d take it, wouldn’t you?” he asks. What follows are several silly scenes with other actors like John C. Reilly, who wants a pill to help him parallel park. He then proceeds to have a fender bender in his blue convertible and sets off car alarms.

Grammy-winning artist DJ Khaled was up next, wearing a leopard print costume in a wrestling ring and putting a massive wrestler in a headlock, “If there was a pill that would make me a pro wrestler, I’d take it,” he said.

DJ Khaled and actress Brooks (Orange is the New Black and The Color Purple) met with Men’s Journal to discuss their weight loss journeys.

Both meet with the doctors to form a weight loss plan. They’ve lost weight by taking weight loss medications and keeping up with their diet and exercise routine. They said the medications “cut the food noise” that prompts them to snack between meals, and they are both feeling better than ever.
