14 Afghan Citizens Freed from Azerbaijan Prisons
Fourteen Afghan citizens have been released from prisons in Azerbaijan and are expected to return home following their official release, authorities said.
The Taliban-run Foreign Ministry announced that Azerbaijan has released 14 citizens from its prisons following an order by the Azerbaijani leadership, however the reasons behind the arrests were not disclosed.
This comes amid the last week’s release of 108 Afghan prisoners from the United Arab Emirates, freed as part of the UAE’s National Day clemency measures.
Taliban authorities said some released citizens have already returned home, while legal procedures continue for transferring remaining detainees back to Afghanistan.
Concerns persist over the conditions and legal status of Afghan nationals detained in foreign countries, with families often facing limited support and communication challenges.
Afghanistan faces deep humanitarian crisis as poverty, unemployment, and aid shortages push millions to struggle for food, healthcare, and basic survival daily.
Economic collapse, insecurity, and limited opportunities are driving thousands of citizens to migrate abroad, seeking safety, jobs, and stability for their families.
