Why Is Mack Hollins Wearing Hannibal Lector Look at Super Bowl 2026, While Barefoot? Fans Have a Theory

New England Patriots wide receiver Mack Hollins caused a stir when he arrived to the 2026 Super Bowl barefoot wearing a Hannibal Lector style mask, handcuffs, and a prison inmate suit.

Specifically, it looked like he was wearing a look as Hannibal Lecter from The Silence of the Lambs.

He was also holding his coach Mike Vrabel‘s old high school jersey.

He explained previously to Boston.com about why he goes barefoot, “It started about six or seven years ago. … Met some trainers called Melbourne Muscular Therapy out in Australia. They showed up — I flew them out from Australia to (Philadelphia) — they showed up and the way y’all look at me is how I was looking at them. They were walking around Philly barefoot and I was like, ‘I might have sent the wrong guys out here.’ But that was their philosophy, is being barefoot and kind of getting back to your original ways of movement. That grew into me training barefoot all the time for about two years, three years. And then probably in the last two or three years I kind of went to the, ‘What’s the point?’ One less thing to pack, now the bag’s under 50 pounds. Like, I’m saving money. It really comes all together.”

As for the outfit, we don’t know exactly why he chose this particular look…but it’s not that unusual for him. He’s often seen in eccentric pre-game clothing.

“I think he’s just stating that he’s unhinged and ready to devour his opponents,” one fan mused on Instagram, and several fans agreed.
