NBC Announcer Mike Tirico's Wife is Former Collegiate Athlete

Longtime NBC Sports announced Mike Tirico is preparing for a busy Sunday where he'll not only call Super Bowl LX between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks, but also lead the network's Winter Olympics coverage on Sunday night.

"Calling a Super Bowl is a dream,” he told Today. “It’s something that over the years has been a dream for anyone once they get into this profession, but you never think that’s going to happen for you."

"But to call the game, only a dozen people have done it. It’s the pinnacle of our business," he added. "I just think it’s the one sporting event people who don’t like sports want to watch. I do believe that it’s become a national holiday. It brings people together, and people love to see the best. And I think the Super Bowl’s often represented that."

Tirico and his wife, Debbie, met when they both attended Syracuse in the late 1980's. Then Deborah Giberatz, she was a four-time letter winner in women's basketball and a tri-captain of the 1989 team.

In Syracuse's second postseason appearance, Tirico played in the 1988 NCAA tournament. She was Big East All-Academic and an ECAC Scholar Athlete. Her teammates honored her for outstanding courage and desire ('87) and as most dedicated ('89).

Life After Syracuse for the Tirico's

After graduation, Tirico began her career in finance at Carrier Corporation, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation. In 1997, she joined HSB as a Vice President of Business Development and spent two years growing the engineering consulting business. She later earned an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business before the couple moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan

Since the move, she's devoted her time to local non-profit organizations - and was on the board for the Ann Arbor YMCA in 2015. Tirico's career, meanwhile, continued to blossom after he took over as the lead NFL announcer after NBC's decision to replace Al Michaels, who left for Amazon Prime Video.

"Usually for Sunday Night Football, we’ll travel on Fridays," he revealed in an interview. "But I’ve come to love America. I love the fact that I can be dropped in, like, 40 cities in America and I don’t need a map."

Tirico will be on the call for Super Bowl LX between the Patriots and Seahawks, which kicks off at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC. The game will also stream on Peacock.
