US Banks Channel Profits to Major Shareholders as Top 10 Percent Hold Over 90 Percent of Wealth

Major US banks returned nearly $100 billion in profits to shareholders in 2025, as the top 10 percent of Americans control more than 90 percent of capital and gains, while about 40 percent hold no stocks at all, prompting warnings of widening inequality.
