Alan Ritchson Has a Serious Concern About 'Reacher' Season 4

Since Reacher premiered on Prime Video, it has been so beloved by many loyal viewers that it would be an understatement to call it a massive hit. Amazon even revealed in March 2025 that Reacher season 3 was the most-watched returning show season in Prime Video history to that point after 54.6 million people streamed those episodes in 19 days. Given how much new content streaming platforms release every year, Reacher earning that distinction is especially meaningful.

With his show connecting with fans around the world, it seems like Alan Ritchson shouldn't be worried about the show's fourth season. Despite that, he revealed that he has a shocking worry about the series' upcoming episodes. Now, those comments are taking on more gravity in light of his recent admission about his own exhaustion.

In November 2025, Alan Ritchson was interviewed by Screen Rant about the release of his film, Playdate. During that discussion, the actor briefly discussed Reacher season 4 and revealed that he fears that the show's next chapter could have too much action.

"We shot… God, I don't even know, man. 30? We've never shot this many fights. There's so many. And it's not just that we're just going for the sake of it. I worry about fight fatigue for audiences. I watch my wife watch Game of Thrones, and I am yawning my way through it, and then the fights start. I'm like, 'Now it's getting good.' The fights start, and she's like, 'Oh, wake me up when the fights are done.' And I'm like, 'What is that?' I don't ever want somebody to disengage because they're just seeing all the fights in the world thrown on screen."

Since Reacher is a beloved action thriller, it almost seems hard to believe that the show's star would worry about viewers feeling "fight fatigue" while watching it. While those comments were fascinating from the moment he made them, Ritchson's remarks now carry even more weight thanks to a recent confession he made.

How Alan Ritchson Just Cast His 'Fight Fatigue' Worries About 'Reacher' in a New Light

On February 5, 2026, Netflix published a video on its YouTube channel that provided an inside look at the production of Alan Ritchson's movie, War Machine. In the video, Ritchson could be seen breathing heavily as filming action scenes for the film had clearly taken a toll on him. After that, the actor could be heard talking about how tired he felt because of the demands of filming action scenes.

“I'm gonna level with you real quick: I am the most tired I've ever been. This is a tough one!”

Ultimately, Reacher fans will have to wait and see whether season 4 truly does deliver too much of a good thing by being overstuffed with fight scenes. Until then, hearing Ritchson share how physically draining those scenes can be to act in gives fans more appreciation for the effort put into every onscreen punch and chase. It is also a perfect reminder that even the toughest on-screen action heroes pay a real price to entertain fans.
