Obinna Ekufu selected for Basketball Without Borders All-Star Camp
Former Barking Abbey guard Obinna Ekufu has been selected to participate in the 10th annual Basketball Without Borders (BWB) All-Star camp in Los Angeles.
Hosted by the NBA and FIBA, the camp will take place from February 13–15 at the UCLA Health Training Center as part of NBA All-Star 2026, bringing together 40 of the top high-school-age prospects from 29 countries and territories.
Ekufu, now at Sagemont Prep in Florida, continues his rapid rise on the international stage after impressing at Basketball Without Borders Europe in Manchester last summer, where he was named Defensive Player of the Camp and selected to the All-Star 5. Known for his athleticism and ability to guard multiple positions, Ekufu has also earned England and Great Britain junior caps.
The NBA and FIBA revealed a reimagined format for the BWB program with the launch of “BWB Next Up” – two annual camps for the top 80 male prospects and top 80 female prospects from outside the U.S. that will replace regional BWB camps such as BWB Europe and from which the top-performing players will be selected to participate in BWB All-Star camps at the following NBA and WNBA All-Star games.
During the 2024/25 season, Ekufu was named EABL South U17 Player of the Year and helped Barking Abbey capture the playoff title. He later represented Team Munich at the Adidas Next Gen EuroLeague U18 Finals and appeared in the Hoopsfix All-Star Classic, finishing runner-up in the dunk contest.
“I want to thank my family, Barking Abbey, and Basketball England for supporting me and making this opportunity possible,” said Ekufu. “I hope to make my country and my people proud, representing them to the best of my ability.”
Basketball Without Borders is the NBA and FIBA’s global basketball development and community outreach programme. Since launching in 2001, it has reached more than 4,900 participants from 149 countries and territories, with 143 former campers progressing to the NBA or WNBA.
The 2026 All-Star camp will feature athletic testing, skill development stations, 3-on-3 competitions, life-skills seminars and 5-on-5 games under the guidance of current and former NBA and FIBA players and coaches. A closing ceremony will award Camp MVP, Defensive MVP and Sportsmanship honours before campers attend the NBA All-Star Game.
