Ryan Gosling Returning to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

Ryan Gosling may not yet be a member of Saturday Night Live’s exclusive Five-Timers Club, but he’s closing in on the honor.

After nearly one month off, Saturday Night Live will be returning with a brand-new episode on February 28th, with Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie making his debut as host of the long-running sketch comedy show. He’ll be joined by SNLveterans Mumford & Sons, as the Grammy-winning band makes their fourth appearance on the show—just a week after the release of the upcoming new album, “Prizefighter.”

While we’ve known about Storrie’s debut for a few weeks now, NBC just announced that three-time Oscar nominee will yet again show off his comedic chops when he returns to host the show on March 7th. Grammy winners Gorillaz will make their musical debut alongside the Barbie star.

How Many Times Has Ryan Gosling Hosted Saturday Night Live?

While Gosling first made a name for himself in Hollywood with his dramatic roles, he’s proved to be a popular host for SNL fans.

Gosling, whose new film Project Hail Mary arrives in theaters on March 20th, made his SNL hosting debut on December 5, 2015, just a few days after The Big Short arrived in theaters. He has returned to Studio 8H three times since then—twice as host, on September 30, 2017 and April 13, 2024, and once with a cameo appearance when Kristen Wiig hosted on April 6, 2025.

Gosling became an all-time favorite host in 2024 in a sketch that saw him and Mikey Day appear as Beavis and Butt-Head, respectively. The bit went viral and quickly became the most viewed sketch on YouTube for the show’s 49th season.

Who Are Some of the Members of SNL’s Five-Timers Club?

While Gosling has still got one more hosting gig to go until he earns his illustrious Five-Timers jacket, he’d be in great company.

Currently, there are 26 official members of the Five-Timers Club, which began with Tom Hanks in 1990. While hosting that show (his fifth time doing it), he mentioned becoming a part of an illustrious group of SNL regulars who were afforded special perks, including a membership card. Steve Martin, Elliot Gould, and Paul Simon all appeared in the sketch.

From there, the Five-Timers Club took on a life of its own. As any new member is added to the roster, the opening monologue usually revolves around the accomplishment, and features several other Five-Timers.

Alec Baldwin is currently the most prolific member, having hosted the show 17 times (and making more than 50 cameos and special appearances). Martin is close behind with 16 hosting gigs and nearly two dozen cameos. Former SNL cast members Martin Short and Kristen Wiig are the two most recent inductees.
