MLB Player Ousted from Team After Incident in Miami
The Philadelphia Phillies are down a player after Nick Castellanos was let go from the team. Apparently, he brought a beer into the dugout after being ejected from a game against the Miami Marlins, according to a report from National Public Radio.
What Happened?
Castellanos, 33, was benched after making what Phillies manager Rob Thomson described as an inappropriate comment about the rules of the game, ESPN reports. The outfielder was ousted from the game and went and bought himself a beer and returned to the dugout. MLB forbids beer in the dugout or directly behind the dugout.
Trade Talks Faltered
The Phillies were in talks to trade Castellanos, but were unsuccessful and decided to let him go from the team. Castellanos took to social media and explained about the incident and said his teammates took the beer away from him before he took a sip. He apologized for letting his emotions get the best of him.
Adolis García is expected to replace Castellanos. He signed a $10 million, one-year contract with The Phils in December.
