Man Utd scouts were watching two players during Inter Milan vs Juventus

Manchester United scouts were tracking the performances of two players during the Serie A meeting between Inter Milan and Juventus at San Siro on Saturday.

The Red Devils primarily focused on bolstering the attacking department last year. The priority could shift to the defensive makeup of the squad this summer.

A couple of defenders could be signed, and Calciomercato claim that Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco and Juventus’ Pierre Kalulu are the players under focus.

The Nerazzurri picked up a 3-2 victory over the Bianconeri to move eight points clear at the top of Serie A last night. Dimarco continued his sensational form with his 14th assist of the campaign, but it was a forgettable game for Kalulu.

Kalulu, who started at right-back for the Bianconeri, was sent off after a second yellow card in the 42nd minute. He was in good touch in the lead-up to the game but received his marching orders yesterday.

Man Utd could pursue deals for new full-backs

Dimarco has been a revelation for Inter, operating from the left wing-back position. He has already made 20 goal contributions from 32 games this term. This includes seven assists in his last four matches.

The Italian has also impressed with his tackling and recovery runs. He does not shy away from his defensive duties and has the knack of creating chances with his bombarding overlapping runs.

Luke Shaw is presently United’s main left-back option. Patrick Dorgu has not been at his best as a deputy to the Englishman. We believe the Dane’s future could be as an attacking player instead.

In that case, Dimarco would be a fine acquisition. He only recently turned 28 and appears in the prime of his career, and would be a superb addition to the United defence ahead of next season.

Kalulu, on the other hand, has played in multiple defensive positions for Juventus this campaign. He featured in the back three under former boss Igor Tudor, but has since played higher up.

He has primarily operated from the right-back role since Luciano Spalletti took charge. The Frenchman has seven goal involvements for the Bianconeri and could be signed for an affordable fee if the Turin heavyweights don’t qualify for the Champions League.

Still, we believe the Red Devils should look at the Premier League for a right-back solution. Brentford’s Michael Kayode comes to mind first. The Italian does not have a direct goal or assist, but has created several chances for the Bees with his stellar long throws.

Kayode’s throwing capacity has been compared to former Stoke City star Rory Delap. He has also been brilliant on the defensive side and should only get better with age. At 21, the Italian has yet to enter the prime of his career and would be a top-class recruit.
