According to The Wrap, Casey is divesting his 40% stake in the company and stepping away.

Majority stakeholder Providence Equity Partners, who holds 60%, are already in discussions to rename the agency after Wasserman‘s exit.

Casey has reportedly handed over the CEO reins to Mike Watts, who has been taking on day-to-day operations.

“I believe that I have become a distraction,” Casey wrote in a statement to staff. “That is why I have begun the process of selling the company, an effort that is already underway. During this time, Mike Watts will assume day-to-day control of the business while I devote my full attention to delivering Los Angeles an Olympic Games in 2028 that is worthy of this outstanding city.”

“We believe deeply in the strength of the Company and have full confidence in Mike [Watts] and the leadership team, as well as in the exceptional employees across the organization,” Providence shared in a statement, via The Wrap. “We remain fully committed to investing in its growth, expanding its capabilities across sports, music, and entertainment, and supporting the extraordinary talent, brands, and properties the Company is proud to represent.”

Notable names that dropped Wasserman as their agency include music stars Chappell Roan, John Summit and Orville Peck, while US Women’s Soccer star Abby Wambach also announced her exit.

It’s unclear if any of the talent that have left will return.
