Where to celebrate the Lunar New Year in Marin

• Marin Asian-American Public Local Employees and the Civic Center Library host a Lunar New Year celebration with interactive tables, activities and cultural displays focusing on Lunar New Year traditions across different Asian cultures, along with a taiko drumming performance by Kristy Oshiro, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Marin Civic Center Cafeteria at 3501 Civic Center Drive, room 233, in San Rafael. • The Marin Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team will perform to celebrate the Lunar New Year at 11 a.m. Saturday at the San Anselmo Town Hall Plaza at 525 San Anselmo Ave. in San Anselmo; 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Larkspur Library at 400 Magnolia Ave. in Larkspur; 6:30 p.m. this weekend, Feb. 28 and March 1 and 8 at Yet Wah at 1238 Fourth St. in San Rafael; and 11:30 a.m. Feb. 28 at the Fairfax Library at 2097 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in Fairfax. • San Rafael celebrates the Lunar New Year with a Horse Hunt and Word Scramble Challenge through Feb. 28 at participating locations in downtown San Rafael. Businesses will display horse window paintings in celebration of the Year of the Horse. Find the letter in each one and unscramble the results for a chance to win a $50 gift card. Maps can be picked up and dropped off at Belly Deli at 1304 Second St. in San Rafael, or you can email your results to info@srbid.org. Admission is free. Go to downtownsanrafael.org.
