Suicide Car Bomb Kills Seven Security Personnel in Pakistan’s Bajaur

At seven Pakistani security personnel were killed after a suicide car bombing struck a border post in Bajaur, officials said Monday evening.

Security sources in Pakistan said at least seven security personnel were killed after a suicide bomber targeted a checkpoint in Bajaur district near the Afghanistan border.

The attack occurred Monday evening in Bajaur, part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, when an explosives-laden vehicle rammed into a Frontier Corps security post.

Officials said the checkpoint, housed in a former religious school building in Bajaur, was completely destroyed, and bodies were later recovered from under the rubble.

A child living in a nearby house was also killed, while at least three people suffered serious injuries as surrounding homes were damaged by the powerful blast.

Videos circulating online showed civilians attempting rescue efforts in darkness, pulling survivors from debris as fears remained that civilian casualties could rise further.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in suicide and militant attacks in recent months, including a deadly mosque bombing in Islamabad that killed dozens of worshippers.

Data from South Asia Terrorism Portal show 2025 became one of the deadliest years in a decade, with nearly four thousand people killed in violence nationwide.

Analysts blame much of the recent violence on Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan, whose activities increased after the return to power of the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan, heightening regional security concerns.
