Coca-Cola Just Discontinued a Beloved Retro Flavor
Coca-Cola has quietly called time on selling a fruity-flavored variation of their classic drink, according to reports.
“Coca-Cola Orange Cream is no more! The new Coca-Cola Cherry Float variant will replace Coca-Cola Orange Cream on shelves,” Soda Seekers, a soft drink-based blog on Instagram, shared.
The drink is set to leave shelves soon, according to the blogger's report. Coca-Cola has not made an official statement on the discontinuation, but food bloggers at Sporked reported similarly, stating the drink was only a limited-time release.
"Coca‑Cola Orange Cream and Coca‑Cola Zero Sugar Orange Cream will be available through early-2026," the press statement from Coca-Cola, shared in early February 2025, said.
The flavor was a nostalgic nod to a popular soda flavor throughout history, reminiscent of the vintage '50s soda jerks seen throughout America's restaurants and diners. The relaunch of the flavor was intended for new consumers to try the beloved retro taste, especially after a previous limited-edition throwback drink was discontinued early.
"Orange Cream is one of many throwback flavors making a comeback thanks to growing demand among Millennials and Gen Z-ers for fun, unexpected tastes and sensory experiences," Coca-Cola said.
"Orange Cream has been around since 1905 but has seen a renaissance in recent years as retro offerings have captured the attention of fans," the statement continued. "Coca‑Cola Orange Cream launches on the heels of Coca‑Cola Orange Vanilla, which had a successful run from 2019 through 2022 but was ultimately discontinued amidst the supply chain and marketing challenges of COVID-19."
In a marketing campaign launched last year to celebrate the release of the product, excited coke fans chase a Coca‑Cola Orange Cream truck as it cruises through a suburban neighborhood on a sunny afternoon, similar to kids with an ice cream van on a hot summer's day. Mariah Carey’s old-school classic, “Fantasy”, soundtracks the commercial, alongside the tagline: “We All Scream for Orange Cream.”
