When were Tottenham last relegated from the top-flight compared to Premier League rivals?

How long has it been since Tottenham Hotspur dropped out of the English top-flight as the club find themselves in the midst of a relegation battle?

Spurs are one of just six clubs to have never been relegated from the Premier League since the competition began in 1992, alongside Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Everton.

The Lilywhites find themselves just five points ahead of the drop zone with 12 league games left to play.

How long have Tottenham been in the English top flight?

The Athletic have revealed that Spurs have been in the top division of English football since the 1978-79 season, which is the fifth-longest run without going down.

That means the Lilywhites have been in the top flight consistently for 48 campaigns in a row. That is only bettered by Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Man United. It also encompasses a whopping 1,866 league games and 2,841 league goals.

Spurs last tasted relegation in the 1976/77 campaign. Should Tottenham go down this year, the club would endure its lowest point in nearly half a century; something that an entire generation of Spurs fans have never experienced.

Jamie Carragher believes Spurs may be on the verge of a catastrophe

While Tudor is confident that relegation is not a possibility for his side, one pundit insists that Tottenham are certainly not too good to go down.

Jamie Carragher suggested that Spurs’ struggles at home make relegation a real possibility, claiming that there is little evidence to suggest that the Lilywhites can pick up wins in N17.

Relegation would have massive financial consequences at Tottenham, potentially putting the club in a major black hole.
