Marin movie theater honors 2 cinema legends

The Lark Theater in Larkspur will pay tribute to two legends of American cinema in March.

Actor Robert Duvall, who died earlier this month, will be honored with screenings of three of his films. 1983’s “Tender Mercies,” which won Duvall the Academy Award for best actor for his performance as Mac Sledge, a country singer and recovering alcoholic, will be shown at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Wednesday. 2003’s “Secondhand Lions,” the family-friendly film starring Duvall as an eccentric adventurer, will be shown at 9 a.m. and 4:40 p.m. March 5. 1997’s “The Apostle,” with Duvall as a charismatic Pentecostal preacher, will be shown at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. March 6.

The late director Rob Reiner will be honored with screenings of four of his films. 1984’s “This Is Spinal Tap,” his mockumentary about a past-its-prime rock band, will be shown at 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. March 16. 1992’s “A Few Good Men,” his legal drama adapted from Aaron Sorkin’s play, will be shown at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. March 17. 1987’s iconic fantasy-comedy film “The Princess Bride” will be shown at 9 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. March 18. 1989’s “When Harry Met Sally,” Reiner’s rom-com collaboration with legendary screenwriter Nora Ephron, will be shown at 9 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. March 19.
