Jim Carrey showed off his French-speaking skills while accepting his Honorary Prize at the 2026 Cesar Awards.

The 64-year-old actor won the Lifetime Achievement Award while attending France’s major film awards show on Thursday (February 26) at L’Olympia in Paris, France.

During his speech, Jim told the audience, “As an actor, each character you play is like clay in the sculptor’s hands, which you shape to your heart’s desire. How fortunate I have been to share this art with so many people who have truly opened their hearts to me.”

Variety reports that he joked at the end, “So, how was my French? Almost mediocre, right? Forgive me, I didn’t speak French, but I’m just learning it. My tongue is tired.”
