Former Iranian President Reportedly Killed in U.S. and Israeli Airstrike

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reportedly killed in an airstrike in Tehran, with two bodyguards also confirmed dead.

Iranian media outlets have reported that former president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was killed in an airstrike allegedly carried out by the United States and Israel in Tehran’s Narmak neighborhood. The reports claim the strike targeted an area near his residence.

Images circulated Saturday showing damage in the vicinity of Ahmadinejad’s home, with reports indicating that two of his bodyguards were also killed. The extent of the destruction in the area remains unclear.

Ahmadinejad served as Iran’s president for two terms from 2005 to 2013. Before his presidency, he was mayor of Tehran and previously held provincial leadership roles, including governor of Ardabil.

During his presidency, Iran experienced heightened tensions with Western countries and faced widespread domestic protests following the disputed 2009 election, an unrest later known as the Green Movement.

After leaving office in 2013, Ahmadinejad attempted to return to politics by registering for subsequent presidential elections, though his candidacy was disqualified. He remained an outspoken and sometimes controversial political figure.

Photos and unverified videos reportedly showing the aftermath of the strike have spread widely across social media platforms, though independent confirmation of the details remains limited.
