Jelly Roll Reveals He Suffered Painful Injury Before Grammys
Jelly Roll was playing hurt when he won a trio of honors at the 2026 Grammy Awards last month, he revealed in a new Instagram video.
In a post Sunday captioned "I’ve been keeping a secret from y’all…" the 41-year-old singer shared that he broke his collarbone in an ATV accident shortly before the ceremony in Los Angeles on Feb. 1.
Playing through the pain
Jelly Roll included a photo of an X-ray showing his broken collarbone, followed by a video of himself in front of his repaired ATV explaining what happened.
“Y’all just took this thing out for the first time since I flipped it,” the "Save Me" performer said. “I broke my collarbone. I was so scared to get back on this thing. I just knew if I didn’t get back on it sooner than later, I was just going to be more and more afraid of it.”
At the Grammys, Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, won three awards: Best Contemporary Country Album (Beautifully Broken), Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song with Brandon Lake for "Hard Fought Hallelujah" and Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Shaboozey for "Amen."
Hearing his name called three times was a dream come true, but the "Need a Favor" singer admitted celebrating his accomplishments was painful.
“I was just thinking, I was out there running all over the Grammys with a broken collarbone,” he explained. “Every time I hugged somebody that week, I wanted to scream. I just didn’t say it, but every time somebody squeezed me, dude, I thought I was gonna cry."
Mishap not keeping Jelly Roll off his ride
In the video above, Jelly Roll also revealed that his brother was able to get the ATV repaired and working as new.
Despite his accident and injury, the country star pushed through any doubts to get back in the seat.
"Sometimes the machine can do more than the user thinks it can. This was all user error,” Jelly Roll said of dealing with the pain. “Anyways, moral of the story, get back on that pony baby. Love y’all."
