Gunfire in North Oakland results in city’s 12th homicide of 2026
OAKLAND — A 35-year-old man died Sunday afternoon after gunfire erupted in North Oakland, police said.
The gunshots happened about 3 p.m. and prompted a gunshot detection system alert that brought police to the 3000 block of San Pablo Avenue. Once there, police said officers found a man down.
Police said the shooting happened after the victim and another person had a confrontation. The victim died at the scene. Authorities did not identify him immediately, citing the investigation.
Police did not identify a suspect, and they have not made any arrests.
The homicide is the 12th one investigated by Oakland police in 2026.
