Google Expands Gemini 3.1 Pro Across Cloud and Enterprise Platforms

Google on Feb. 19 introduced Gemini 3.1 Pro, an updated iteration of its Gemini AI family designed to tackle complex, enterprise-grade reasoning tasks and made accessible via multiple development and business interfaces on Google Cloud.

Gemini 3.1 Pro extends Google’s strategy of embedding generative artificial intelligence (AI) into enterprise workflows and developer tools. The model’s reasoning enhancements aim to help organizations unify disparate data sources, visualize intricate topics and solve multilayered problems that require substantial contextual understanding.

Vladislav Tankov, director of AI at JetBrains, noted an up-to-15% improvement over earlier model runs. Hanlin Tang, CTO of neural networks at data engineering and AI platform provider Databricks, said the model demonstrated “impressive reasoning” on enterprise benchmarks combining structured and unstructured data.

Gemini 3.1 Pro is available now in Vertex AI, Google Cloud’s managed AI development and deployment environment, and Gemini Enterprise, Google’s integrated AI solution tailored for corporate data and workflows. Developers can also access the model through the Gemini CLI and tools like Google Antigravity, Android Studio and Google AI Studio.

The wider rollout reflects a broader push by Google to position its AI models as foundational infrastructure for business innovation. Vertex AI provides enterprises with secure pipelines, model governance and scalability, while Gemini Enterprise layers AI capabilities into everyday productivity tools and internal data stores, enabling knowledge workers to interact with AI-assisted insights within familiar work contexts.

Deeper integration of AI into enterprise tooling could accelerate organizational adoption of automation and intelligent assistance. For developers, access through multiple interfaces and SDKs means more flexibility to embed advanced reasoning into custom solutions, while corporate teams gain tools to synthesize insights without extensive data-science expertise.

Google’s AI Momentum in Market and Search

Beyond technical deployments, Google’s broader AI efforts are showing signs of commercial traction. According to PYMNTS, Google has seen a surge in sales of its Gemini AI models, with application programming interface (API) usage expanding rapidly in recent periods, a trend that can be attributed to improved model quality and heightened enterprise demand.

Earlier PYMNTS’ coverage noted that Google’s Gemini 3 family also underpins new search and enterprise features, illustrating how the company is weaving generative AI into both product experiences and core business tools.
