A Divisive Superhero Movie Disappears From Netflix This Week

2017's Power Rangers reboot will be disappearing from Netflix later this month—but there are plenty of other places you can watch the divisive superhero blockbuster.

Directed by Dean Israelite, the film is a Hollywood reimagining of the classic television series—which follows a group of teenagers who acquire superhuman abilities and are tasked with defending Earth from extraterrestrial threats.

'Power Rangers' Received Very Mixed Reviews From Critics

While the Power Rangers show was an undeniable classic that defined an entire generation of superhero fans, the 2017 reboot didn't quite live up to the heavy expectations that had been placed upon it.

Led by Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, R.J. Cyler, Elizabeth Banks, and Ludi Lin, the film offered a much more grounded, serious approach to the story that didn't quite capture the lighthearted silliness of the original show.

The film currently sits at 51% on Rotten Tomatoes, perfectly reflecting its mixed reception. The critics concensus asserts: "Power Rangers has neither the campy fun of its TV predecessor nor the blockbuster action of its cinematic superhero competitors, and sadly never quite manages to shift into turbo for some good old-fashioned morphin time."

'Power Rangers' Is Leaving Netflix On March 6

According to Netflix's TUDUM, Power Rangers will be leaving the streamer on Friday, March 6. Thankfully, there are still plenty of other platforms where you can purchase Dean Israelite's controversial blockbuster to watch at home.

In the U.S., Power Rangers is currently available to buy or rent on most major VOD services, including Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. Rental prices on both playtforms are currently $3.99, while a permanent purchase will set you back $14.99.
