Fatal crash on 101-405 transition closes multiple lanes during morning rush
One person was killed early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash on a freeway interchange in Sherman Oaks that led to a SigAlert that lingered into morning commute hours.
The crash was reported at 3:05 a.m. on the transition road from the northbound 101 Freeway to the southbound 405 Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia told City News Service.
The victim — whose name, gender and age were not immediately known — was pronounced dead at the scene.
Around 6 a.m. all lanes but one were closed on the northbound 101 Freeway, and one lane remained shut down on the southbound 405, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A SigAlert was in effect, and motorists were advised to avoid the area or seek alternate routes.
