Pakistani Religious Scholars’ Delegation Travels to Kabul for Talks With Officials

A delegation of Pakistani religious scholars has traveled to Kabul for talks with Taliban authorities as tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan continue to escalate following recent clashes along the border.

Pakistani media reported on Tuesday, March 10 that the three-member delegation includes prominent clerics Maulana Fazlur Rahman Khalil, Maulana Abdullah Shah Mazhar, and Maulana Sajid Usman. According to reports, the group is currently holding discussions with Taliban officials in Kabul.

Tolo News quoted sources in Kabul as saying the visit aims to explore possible ways to resolve disputes and reduce the recent tensions between Kabul and Islamabad.

The Taliban authorities have not yet officially confirmed the visit of the Pakistani delegation or commented publicly on the objectives of the talks.

The visit comes as the sixth round of military clashes between Taliban and Pakistan has continued for nearly two weeks, raising concerns about the growing instability along the border.

The United Nations has reported that the recent Pakistani attacks across several Afghanistan provinces have resulted in at least 185 civilian casualties, including both killed and injured people.

Tensions between Taliban and Pakistan have increased in recent months due to cross-border violence, security concerns, and disputes over militant activity along the frontier.

Maulana Fazlur Rahman has previously visited Afghanistan several times and held meetings with senior Taliban leaders. He heads a religious organization in Pakistan and had openly supported the Taliban during the years of insurgency.
