Pray for Babies. Pray to End Abortions

A co-worker is going in for major surgery and I am once again reminded of the fragility of life.

This stalwart colleague has been dedicated to safeguarding the precious right to life for many years. She has demonstrated her faithfulness to the cause year in and year out, even taking time to care for her ailing mother.

She is an example of pro-life in action as well as word, and I admire her greatly for her dedication.

The line between life and death can be paper thin. That is why we must treasure every day as if it were our last. I have found that one of the best ways to spend a lifetime is in service of pregnant women and their babies. Such self-giving can reap fabulous rewards in terms of lives saved and hearts changed.

I pray that my co-worker’s surgeon will safeguard her life with the same precision with which she has fought for so many other lives. With quiet conviction, my colleague has demonstrated what it means to be committed to life at all phases and stages of development.

Perhaps your family has been touched by illness or disability and you are praying for a swift recovery. I join you in that prayer and ask you to pray another: that all of God’s vulnerable children will be protected from harm.

That is the best gift any one of us could give.
