Perplexity Computer Uses Plaid Data to Personalize Financial Management

Perplexity has added deeper capabilities for financial research to its cloud-based agent product, Perplexity Computer.

The company added these capabilities to Perplexity Finance, the data and analysis layer underneath Computer, it said in a Wednesday (March 11) blog post.

With these additions, Computer now has access to more than 40 live finance tools that pull data from authoritative sources such as Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filings, FactSetS&P GlobalCoinbaseLSEG and Quartr, according to the post.

Computer can also pull prediction market data from Polymarket, and it enables users to connect their brokerage accounts through Plaid, per the post.

With these additions, Computer can deliver data that is “correct, current and auditable,” Perplexity said in the post.

The company also said that 75% of Perplexity users already ask its artificial intelligence (AI) finance questions every month.

Plaid highlighted its collaboration with Perplexity and its Portfolio feature in a Wednesday blog postKathleen McGuirk, GTM AI lead at Plaid, said in the post that Portfolio enables people to securely connect their investment accounts through Plaid to gain an interactive financial management experience in which they can ask questions about their portfolio and get personalized answers in seconds.

“This marks a meaningful step as financial services shifts to intelligent finance, where your data doesn’t just sit in an app or static interface, it informs AI experiences designed to respond to you,” McGuirk said. “At Plaid, we believe that this is the future of financial services, and we are thrilled to partner with Perplexity on making that vision a reality.”

This experience is enabled by Plaid’s ability to enable users to securely connect their brokerage accounts and share investment data across institutions, and by its Financial Insights APIs that allow Perplexity to access investments holdings, transactions, balances and securities data, according to the post.

“Plaid stands out as a trusted, AI-forward partner that has made it dramatically easier for people to connect and monitor their financial accounts securely,” Dmitry Shevelenko, chief business officer at Perplexity, said in the post.

Perplexity introduced Computer on Feb. 25, saying the product is designed to complete complex assignments with limited human supervision.
