Sophia Bush Shares a Disappointing Update on the 'One Tree Hill' Reboot
Sophia Bush has shared a disappointing update for those waiting on news about the planned One Tree Hill reboot/sequel series.
The actress attended the 34th Annual Elton John Aids Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles on Sunday night (March 15) with her girlfriend Ashlyn Harris and was asked about the show by Entertainment Tonight, specifically if it is still happening.

“You know, we have done such great work, and its been really incredible to see the way every single person in our cast got excited about that phone call, had amazing ideas about where their characters would be, what stories they’d want to explore…” Sophia responded.
She continued, “I would say that we’re all very aware of what’s happening to media right now and who media is being bought by, and I don’t know that any of us are the current media conglomerate’s best friends or favorite people, but I’m okay with that. I’m patient, if nothing else.”
“That was the classiest way I can say it,” Sophia added with a laugh.
Ashlyn then chimed in, “That was a long-winded of, ‘you’ll have to wait and see.’”
Sophia’s comments appear to reference the ongoing media consolidation involving Warner Bros. Discovery. The company has been the subject of a bidding war between Netflix and Paramount, with Paramount—led by media executive David Ellison—now preparing to finalize a merger with WBD and combine HBO Max with its own streaming platforms.
The Chicago P.D. alum was working with One Tree Hill co-star Hilarie Burton and Netflix on the sequel, but it sounds like the show may not be happening now after all.
The planned Buffy the Vampire Slayer reboot has also been canceled, learn more here.
