Acteon delivers first MHU4400S hammer systems to Heerema
Menck, Acteon’s Marine Foundations business line, has delivered the first two MHU4400S hydraulic hammer systems to Heerema Marine Contractors Nederland SE under a strategic agreement
This milestone marks the first phase of a two-hammer supply agreement that strengthens the collaboration between Heerema and Acteon. The hammers will join Heerema’s fleet of Menck’s systems, reinforcing its position among transport and installation contractors.
The scope of supply includes hammers with dedicated transport cradles, each equipped with an innovative Menck Noise Reduction Unit (MNRU), and a custom set of tools, parts, and consumables, improving Heerema’s offshore installation capabilities while supporting compliance with environmental regulations.
Heerema is a long-time client, partner and operator of Acteon’s products and a key partner in technology developments that have defined the offshore pile-driving industry. Menck’s flagship MHU4400S hammer continues this tradition, incorporating proven design principles and integrating with Heerema’s standards, power, and control systems, as well as lifting arrangements. Each hammer system includes the global navigation satellite system and Menck’s noise-mitigation technology, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and delivering performance across foundation installation campaigns.
With three months between contract award and delivery, Heerema gains early operational benefits while maintaining the flexibility to optimise performance ahead of the second phase.
The second hammer system is scheduled for delivery in October 2027, supporting Heerema’s phased operational planning.
Jochem Scherpenisse, EVP of Marine Foundations, Acteon, said, “This agreement strengthens our collaboration with Heerema and supports their ability to deliver complex offshore projects efficiently and with reduced environmental impact.”
Jeroen van Oosten, chief commercial officer, Heerema, said, “By adding the MHU4400S hammer systems, we are strengthening our fleet’s capabilities, ensuring we can serve our clients in the most demanding offshore projects.”
