‘I’m glad he’s dead’: Trump cheers Robert Mueller’s passing with tone-deaf message

President Donald Trump took to social media Saturday to celebrate the death of Robert Mueller, the former FBI director who famously led the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.

“Robert Mueller just died,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social. “Good, I’m glad he’s dead. He can no longer hurt innocent people! President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Mueller died Friday at the age of 81, though his death was not widely reported until Saturday. His cause of death has not yet been reported, though the FBI veteran had suffered from Parkinson's disease for “years,” two people familiar with the matter told MS NOW.

Trump has long feuded with Mueller over the probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, which was alleged at the time to have been on behalf of Trump’s campaign. Trump has repeatedly called the investigation – which concluded in 2019 that Russia had interfered in the election to help bolster Trump's election prospects – a "witch hunt" and a "hoax."
