Costco’s Promise to Keep Prices Low on This Item
With gas, groceries, and service prices going up, shoppers are assured by Costco execs that they can depend on one thing that won’t increase in price in 2026.
The $1.50 hot dog and soda. Costco’s CEO Ron Vachris made a promise while chowing down on the discount meal.
"The hot dog price will not change as long as I'm around," he said in an Instagram post that bested some of the other fast food CEOs taking a bite of the food they sell.
"Introduced in 1985, the combo remains intentionally underpriced, serving as a powerful loss-leader that boosts store traffic, strengthens customer loyalty, and reinforces Costco’s value-driven membership model," the post read.
Some Fans Didn't Relish His Bite
He didn't appear to add any of the standard hot dog condiments: mustard, ketchup, onions, or relish, and some commenters took issue with this.
