The jury rejected arguments that Kevin Spacey couldn't film because of a sickness that led to his unavailability. Spacey was accused of sexually assaulting crew members. During that time, Spacey checked into a rehab facility, and it appeared he’d be unable to appear in the sixth season. The show announced his suspension.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Spacey’s medical records identified him as someone who had sex addiction. This resulted in a settlement between the company and the actor, who needed to pay $31 million for breaching his contract by violating anti-harassment policies.
