India’s carbon emissions rise just 0.7% in 2025, slowest growth in over 20 years amid record clean energy surge
India's carbon dioxide emissions saw their slowest rise in over two decades in 2025. A mere 0.7% increase was recorded. This slowdown is attributed to significant additions in clean energy sources and reduced power demand. Coal-fired power output also dropped for the first time since 1973, outside the Covid period.
