Ex Kazakh minister Bishimbayev to be sentenced in maximum-security prison for murder
Tengrinews.kz - The destination where former Minister of National Economy Kuandyk Bishimbayev will serve his sentence has been disclosed by Tenezhjan Zhanibekov, Chairman of the Committee of Criminal Executive System of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Tenezhjan Zhanibekov stated that Bishimbayev is still in the detention center.
"Convict Bishimbayev is still in the detention centre. One of these days, the issue will already be resolved according to the assignment plan. He will serve his sentence in an institution with maximum security in the territory near Astana, Akmola region," said Zhanibekov.
Tenezhjan Zhanibekov also shared details about the work Bishimbayev might do once he arrives at the correctional facility.
"Regarding employment, yes, we employ convicts, especially those with outstanding claims. Various jobs are available in the production areas. At 'Enbek,' he may work in wood or metal processing, depending on the available vacancies. Each facility has an employment department that handles this," he explained at the briefing.
Upon arrival at the colony, Bishimbayev will undergo a 15-day quarantine, according to the chairman.
"As with other convicts, we will study him during this period. After quarantine, he will be assigned to an appropriate unit, reviewed by a commission. Subsequently, he will participate in educational programs, be employed, and work with psychologists. Comprehensive measures will be taken with him, as with any other convict," Zhanibekov clarified.
