Tsunami threat declared after powerful earthquake hits Japan
Tengrinews.kz - A powerful earthquake has struck Japan, and a tsunami warning has been issued.
According to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre, the earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.1, occurred at 12:42 Astana time. The epicenter of the quake was located off the southern part of Japan's Kyushu island, 14 kilometers northwest of Miyazaki city.
According to NHK, the tsunami is expected to be one metre high.
