Latvian couple gets lost in Kazakhstan's nature feserve
Tengrinews.kz - A couple from Latvia was found lost in the mountains of the Zhetisu region.
According to the local police, the couple got lost in the Aktau mountains in the Kerbulak district. They had arrived in Kazakhstan on a tourist visa on September 25 to explore the mountainous area within the Altyn Emel National Park.
"The couple accidentally lagged behind their main group and lost contact. The search efforts involved the Kerbulak district police, the regional department, as well as emergency responders, volunteers, and foresters. Helicopters and drones were used in the search," stated the press service of the Zhetisu police department.
The lost Latvians were discovered 44 kilometers from the village of Bashy. They were safely transported to a secure location and received the necessary assistance.
The rescued tourists expressed their gratitude to everyone involved in the search and praised the professionalism of the Kazakhstani rescuers.
Previously, a British citizen reported his son missing to the police in Astana after the young man suddenly stopped communicating and sent out a distress signal.
