TikTok reacted to the demand to block the social network in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - TikTok responded to the Senate member's demand to block the social network in Kazakhstan.
TikTok emphasized that the safety of the local community is the absolute priority of the platform.

"First and foremost, TikTok does not allow hate-driven actions or the promotion of hate ideologies, as well as the presence of individuals or organizations that promote violence and hate. We remove such content," the social network's press service in Kazakhstan stated.

It was also noted that TikTok is not intended for users under 13 years old.

"To prevent users under the age of 13 from using the app, we have a registration form requiring the full date of birth. We train moderators and use automated technologies to help identify accounts belonging to users under 13. Upon confirmation, the account is blocked," the company stated.

From January to August 2024, TikTok deleted more than 1.2 million accounts in Kazakhstan belonging to users under the age of 13. TikTok also noted that the role of parents in ensuring children's safety is "critically important."

"With the help of "Family Pairing," parents can link their TikTok account to their teenager's account and control important parameters such as screen time limits and privacy settings. We encourage parents in Kazakhstan to use these tools to ensure a safe online experience for their children," TikTok's press service concluded.

Earlier, Senator Gennadiy Shipovskih called for TikTok to be blocked in Kazakhstan. He noted that access to the popular social network has already been restricted in Kyrgyzstan, France, and Canada.
