Large deposit of rare earth metals discovered in Kazakhstan

Tengrinews.kz - Promising areas of rare earth metals have been found in Kazakhstan. This was announced at a government meeting by the Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapaev.
In Kazakhstan, as part of the state geological study of the subsoil, aimed at developing the rare earth metals industry, prospecting work continues at 12 sites.

"To date, there is already data on the prospects of the Kuirektykol site (Karaganda region - ed.), the reserves of which are estimated at about 800 thousand tons, and the forecast resources are 935.4 thousand tons of rare earth metals, including cerium and lanthanides," said Kanat Sharlapaev.

According to the minister, exploration of rare earth metals is carried out by private companies such as Cove Capital and HMS Bergbau.

"In order to attract investment in the industry and increase the development potential of the rare earth metals industry, the ministry is working to declassify data on balance reserves of rare earth metals, with the exception of osmium and rhenium," Sharlapaev added.

This work, according to him, is planned to be completed by the end of 2024.
Recall: according to the Ministry of Industry, there are 15 rare earth metal deposits in Kazakhstan today, 11 of which are in subsoil use, including Melovoe, Tomak, Taibogar, Tasmuryn, Kundybai, Akbulakskoe, Dzhamchi, Moinkum, Inkai, Akdala, Kanzhugan, Mynkuduk and Budenovskoe.
